It is not unusual, in nature, for an animal, insect, or fish to take on or demonstrate the physical characteristics of another. Some tropical fish glow or pulsate light at night. A type of fish in Florida, even walks on its gills down a country road next to a pond. It’s quite another thing for a man to metamorphose into another kind of being. But so many of us have, as true believers, taken on the nature and characteristics of our Lord and Saviour Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit moving upon us and in us.
Old, stinking and rotten possessions of our soul have been washed away. We are immersed in Christ’s baptism of water and fire, Matthew 3:11, as new life in Christ Jesus cleanses us.
Because He is in us and we in Him, Galatians 2:20, we have taken on His characteristics, His Spirit and life. These aspects of Christ’s newness of life “put upon us,” Romans 13:14. It’s not our human nature, because of the “fall of man,” to express His grace filled love to others. But “in Him” we do.
A) We Christians live in His love and grace in such an abundance that it flows out of us “naturally.” Philippians 1:9
B) We Christians move in the power, strength and anointing of the Holy Spirit. 1 John 2:20,27
C) We Christians are containers of Godly light. Ephesians 5:8-9
D) We Christians walk in His peace, releasing His compassion and serenity to others. John 14:27
E) We Christians function in the mind of Christ, 1 Corinthians 2:16, thinking His thoughts.
F) We Christians have the power of deliverance over evil through His Name. Ephesians 6:10-20
As “…He lives in us and we in Him,” John 17:20-23, we are cleansed of dead stuff and energised into totally “new life.” But like every good thing, we have to receive and act upon it.
